About Me:

Tools of the Trade:

I develop with PHP, the building block of the web! PHP has been around for a longtime and is strong, just like a house a website needs to be built on a solid foundation.

Designing for the Web:

Designing is only a small part of a greater process. I spend ninety percent of my time researching, analyzing and profiling before I ever put my graphic pen to the tablet. Developing personas and creating market analysis is where I spend most of my time designing websites. I like to design for the user, the one who will be interacting with the website.

Caring about Semantics:

I write semantic HTML markup that is standards compliant. I ask myself should that be a header tag, is it that important? These questions matter, writing semantic markup is not only a best practice it can also improve search engine ranking and help to insure that your website will still work in ten years.

New Technology:

Staying up to date with all the new technologies is a fulltime job in itself. Many new buzzwords are flying around Node, CSS3, and HTML5. While I keep a close watch and stay current with these technologies, I tend to stray away from using them in production. These tools haven’t been around for that long and I like to let the bugs work themselves out before I put them to use. I am really excited for what is to come of the Web design and development industry in the near future. When I’m not working, I spend all my time learning and staying current with these new technologies. When I feel the time is right I will start filling up my toolbox with these amazing new tools.
